Dan Jahn Photography + PHOTOSPACE | Studio Internship Program

Assist on shoots, learn about professional commercial photography, how to run a professional photography studio. We accept interns every four months, for 8 weeks, with the expectation of a minimum 16 hours a week. If you need a certain number of hours for school credit, your internship can be customized to meet the required hours. You will gain valuable hands-on experience and can earn college credit with this photo internship. We want interns interested in pursuing careers as professional photographers.
The type of work will vary depending on the background of the participant and the work that is needed at the time. This work could include any of the following:

+ assisting with clean & prep of rental equipment
+ assisting on shoots in the studio
+ assisting on shoots in the field
+ researching and generating lists of photography contests and preparing entries
+ assisting in managing photography workshops
+ you will also be asked to help out around the studio with various office duties when necessary
+ importing images and working on them in Apple Aperture or PhotoShop
+ sorting, organizing, and tagging images for stock sales
+ assisting with set up at art shows
+ helping to prepare proposals for magazine articles

Your photography skills should be at least at an intermediate level, but even more essential is your ability to learn by observation, think for yourself, and problem solve. You are the kind of person who gets things done. You will be given as much responsibility as you can handle. In exchange for your time, studio owner Dan Jahn will be available to give you assignments, critique your work, and provide general advice and guidance. Like most things in life, you will get out of it in proportion to what you put into it. You will be encouraged to shoot on your own as much as possible, and apply what you have learned. Other aspects of this position, or what more you might want out of it, remain open for you to define.
  • Do you have a website of your photography?
