How the hold works

We place an authorization hold for the replacement value — your card isn’t charged.
We ask 24 hours before your rental begins, not when you book. A card authorization only lasts about a week, so an early hold would have lapsed by the time you collect. You’ll get the link the day before.
The hold amount is your rental’s replacement value, computed from the gear list on your reservation — the exact figure is on your estimate or invoice email. Staff confirm every hold against the reservation before pickup.
Renting for longer than a week? We re-authorize the same amount on the same card partway through and release the earlier hold, automatically — you’ll get an email each time it happens.
The hold is released when gear is returned in good condition.
