Shooting straight through the light source means shadows fall directly behind the subject, where the camera can't see most of them. Skin reads clean and even, texture flattens in a flattering way, and you get that polished, high-key beauty quality that's hard to fake with an off-axis softbox. Look closely at a beauty or fashion image and you can often spot exactly what lit it: the round ring reflected in the model's eyes is the RingFlash's fingerprint. A defined shadow halo
